How To Migrate From Local MS Exchange To Hosted Exchange Servers?
Hosted exchange servers are a convenience for most organizations but for the individual that is looking to migrate from one to the other there are things that ought to be carefully thought through. Migration should only be done if the company on the other end has more to offer than the company one is currently using with regards to speed and ease of communication that the business needs.
Most organizations tend to evolve with time; and as such there is the need to continuously up or downgrade the kind of exchange hosted server they are using. If the use their bought server, the OpEx is small, and if the company is not growing actively the CapEx is well spent for years to come. However when one is looking to migrate from one exchange server to the other the one thing that should remain constant is access to the communication channels that are already in place. Other than the connection channels remaining open (including proper MX DNS record and priority planning), there are other aspects of the migration that should be properly researched.
First and foremost there is the aspect of retaining ones contacts because it would be erroneous for an individual to move from one exchange server to the other just for all their contact information to be lost. Secondly any calendar dates, major and minor tasks should remain intact or even receive a systems upgrade should the consumer choose to migrate from Ms exchange to another hosted exchange server. This means that whole database of the existing server should be moved to new one at the same time as the switch of server happens.
It is worth mentioning that when one opts out of MS exchange, they have to be sure that the new service provider offers them with the same option of using their mobile phone and various online sources in order to gain access to the information on the server, from remote areas. In addition to this, the new hosted exchange servers should provide the client with the redundant data storage services.
With all these functions available from the Ms Exchange, it would be a non achievement for any individual or business to move from a functional system to a lesser one especially if the agenda is to grow the business. Users will not be happy if such downgrade move occurs, even if it saves money to the company.
The exchange server plays several roles including protecting the clients data as well as improving the overall IT performance of the organization. In short it is not only possible to move from MS exchange to other kinds of hosted servers but it has been simplified for the clients sake. Migrating offers many advantages for the end user of the product and the minute the data has been backed up just a few hours are needed in order to migrate from one hosted server to the next. Once the basic steps for installation have been followed then the new exchange hosted server is good to go.
